I want to better know my purpose
And to be a better man
I want to build a better planet
And leave it in better hands

I cannot continue to give ground
It is past the time to stand
To not resist is worse than failure
Since I have no doubt I can

I want to be better than my roots
A true hero to my clan
Let my ancestors watch with envy
As I build a better brand

I want my life to be a challenge
To my children great and grand
There must be color in the mural
Be the rain upon the sand

I want to be closer to my source
To fight my way back upstream
I want to rise above the noises
It is so hard not to scream

I want to be closer to greatness
To be much more than I seem
I want to fill the world with beauty
With hot brioche and fresh cream

I want to do more than faintly glow
To know true brightness. To beam
Finally overcome my shadow
And find some way to redeem

I do not want to lie in my bed
My eyes will lose their mad gleam
I want to slay the god of slumber
I would rather live than dream
